PART-TIME PROJECT WORKER (**APPLY ON THE WEBSITE** HOURS PER WEEK)

The School Completion Programme (SCP) is a Department of Education and
Skills initiative under the DEIS Strategy ? Delivering Equality of
Opportunity in Schools. SCP is now funded by Tusla, the Child and
Family Agency, and delivers interventions to both primary and post
primary children and young people who have been identified as
potentially at risk of early school leaving.

North Fingal SCP is based in Balbriggan with a cluster of six schools,
4 Primary and 2 Post Primary.

We wish to recruit a part-time project worker starting on September
1st **Apply on the website**.

THE POSITION

The Project Worker will work alongside the Local Coordinator in
implementing the programme plan locally, as follows:

* To provide behavioral and emotional support to select participants
on a small group or one-to-one basis, supporting solution-focused
outcomes.
* The organisation and facilitation of breakfast/afterschool clubs,
transfer programme, holiday supports and personal development
programmes for children and young people as required.
* To liaise with school personnel, external agencies and
families/guardians as required.
* To assist in the planning, development and evaluation of SCP.
* To attend meetings and participate in staff training where
relevant.
* Any other duties as required by the Local Coordinator.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

To successful candidate will have:

_QUALIFICATIONS:_

* A relevant third level qualification in youth or community work,
social care, education, or a related discipline.

_EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:_

* A minimum of 1 years? practical experience of working with
children and young people at risk within a supportive environment.
* Experience of facilitating evidence-based/informed programmes for
children and young people.
* Practical experience of working collaboratively with other support
agencies.
* A thorough knowledge of the Irish Education system and factors
associated with educational disadvantage and social exclusion.
* An understanding of the role of the School Completion Programme
within the Tusla Education Support Service.
* Knowledge and awareness of child protection policy and practice.
* Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with
vulnerable children and young people.

_SKILLS AND ABILITIES:_

* Excellent communication, planning, organisational and networking
skills.
* Commitment to the delivery of quality services to children and
families.
* Excellent teamwork skills and ability to work on own initiative
but seek guidance as appropriate.
* Ability to manage competing demands in tight timescales.
* Positive, solution-focused approach.
* Committed to the delivery of a quality service to children and
young people.
* Good ICT and report writing skills.

OTHER

* Garda vetting will apply.
* Full, clean driving license and own transport.

SALARY

Pro rata in line with Dublin Dun Laoghaire Youth Work salary scale
(New entrant) ? APPOINTMENT WILL BE MADE ON POINT **APPLY ON THE
